WILDERNESS SAFARI 

A 4x4WD expedition in vintage military trucks exploring the Camino de los Pulperos to El Sótano, where the largest tidal difference in Argentina is recorded. An educational and funny excursion to sled in the Piedras Coloradas dunes, discover marine fossils in Cañadón de las Ostras and enjoy a toast in front of the sea.

The tour heads southwards along the Camino de los Pulperos, a gravel road that accompanies the Patagonian Atlantic Coast. 2 km after leaving, the first stop is made at the Villa de los Pulperos where we introduce ourselves and tell the history of the resort and explain how the Octopus Tehuelchus (the smallest octopus in the world), home of the first settlers of Las Grutas, was harvested.

Advancing towards the South, we reached Piedras Coloradas Beach, known for its rocky formations from the Precambrian Era and its reddish hue. There, we took advantage of the dunes to slide on sand sleds, a very amusing and safe activity for the entire family and especially for the children.

Ten kilometers to the South, there is El Sotano, where the greatest difference in tides in the entire country is registered. How and why do tides occur? The answer is only found in the Safari! The proposal continues with a walk through the Cañadón de las Ostras, where you can appreciate marine fossils of 15 million years, in a natural setting surrounded by the desert of bush vegetation bathed by the warm waters, blue and turquoise that invite you to a dip since the first days of September.

The experience ends with a spectacular toast in front of the sea to return, 4 hours after having departed.

It is an economical, short, didactic and amusing excursion. Don't miss out on it this summer.

 

AUTUMN-WINTER-SPRING: In the low season, we have the possibility of doing the same excursion but in a 4x4 truck, in private, for a maximum of 5 passengers. You can have lunch in front of the sea with wok sautéed vegetables, grilled sausages and Patagonian meat accompanied by an exquisite Patagonian wine, soda, mineral water and a delicious dessert. Furthermore, for the charlatans, we offer coffee, tea and mate. Finishing with a toast of sparkling wine in the Cañadón de las Ostras.

Available in summer: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Winter, almost every day, and we pick you up at the hotel!

Duration: from 4 to 6 hours, departure 9hs and return, between 13hs and 17 hs if you have lunch. Departure and return times vary according to the tides

For the return, in case the wind picks up, we recommend a windbreaker, hooded sweatshirt or jacket and long pants; scarf for the neck and headband for the girls' hair!
